Step 2: Controls

Mic Channels

AUX 1/2 knobs adjust the channel’s signal at the 

(1) 

AUX SEND 1 and 2 jacks. The PRE buttons al ow the 

channel’s signal to be sent to the AUX SEND jack 

pre-fader. 

MIC/RTN switch selects either the XLR MIC input or the 

(2) 

stereo ¼" RETURN jacks as the channel’s audio source. 

MIC EQ knobs adjust the channel’s equalization. On the 

(3) 

NOX606, the MID 1 knob adjusts the high midrange 

frequencies and MID 2 adjusts the lower mids. 

MIC GAIN knob controls the sensitivity of the mic input. 

(4) 

On the NOX1010, the knob acts as a volume control. 

TALKOVER causes the music volume to automatical y drop 

(5) 

whenever the mic is in use, al owing the operator to be 

heard over the music. On the NOX606, hold the switch in 

the up position to engage the talkover function, and flip 

the switch down to turn the mic channel on without 

attenuating the music. 

ON/PEAK LED lights green to indicate that the channel 

(6) 

has been activated, and lights red if the audio begins 

to overload. 

MIC ON button engages the mic channel. 

(7) 

AUX IN knob adjusts the level of the audio connected to 

(8) 

the AUX IN jacks. 

Stereo Channels

GAIN knob controls the sensitivity of the channel input.

(9) 

INPUT SELECT switch selects the channel’s audio source.  

(10) 

CUE button al ows the source to be monitored without 

(11) 

being included in the master output section. 

CHANNEL EQ knobs boost or cut the high, mid and low 

(12) 

frequencies of the channel. On the NOX404, use the 

EQ ON/OFF switch to engage the knobs. 

FILTER switch sends the channel to either FILTER 1 or 2. 

(13) 

Leave the switch in the center to bypass the filters. 

XFADE (A OFF B) switch sends the channel to either side of 

(14) 

the crossfader. When the center OFF position is selected, 

a channel whose fader is raised will bypass the crossfader 

and be heard in the main mix. 

CHANNEL FADER controls the volume of the channel in 

(15) 

the overall mix. 

CHANNEL VU METER displays the signal level of the  

(16) 

input source. 

PAN fader adjusts the channel’s left to right balance. 

(17) 

Crossfader Section

FADER START switch engages the fader start function, 

(18) 

al owing the mixer to send start/cue signals to an 

auto-start CD player. 

CF ASSIGN knobs determine which channels appear at 

(19) 

either side of the crossfader. 

CROSSFADER fades between the sources assigned to 

(20) 

either side. 

XFADE CURVE knob determines how steep or gradual the 

(21) 

fade between source A and source B is.

REV/MODE LEDs indicate the status of the REVERSE and 

(22) 

MODE 1/2 buttons.  

KILL switches/buttons remove the high, mid and low 

(23) 

frequencies from the A or B crossfader mix. On the 

NOX303, flip the switches up to lock the effect, 

or manual y hold the switches down to briefly remove 

the selected frequencies.  

FX Section

FX DISPLAY indicates the current effect. The display will 

(24) 

flash when a new effect is selected, and remain lit when 

it is confirmed by pressing the FX SELECT button. 

FX SELECT knob scrol s through the available effects. 

(25) 

Pressing the knob confirms the effect selection. 

FX ON button activates the digital effects processor.  

(26) 

FX CUE button sends the effect to the cue section for 

(27) 

preview before applying it to the mix. 

FREQUENCY knob adjusts a frequency-based or 

(28) 

time-based parameter of the selected effect. 

INTENSITY fader adjusts the mix or resonance parameter 

(29) 

of the selected effect. 

FX ASSIGN knob determines which sources are affected 

(30) 

by the effect. 

TAP button al ows the effect’s tempo parameter to be 

(31) 

manual y entered by pressing in rhythm with the music.  

Holding the TAP button for 2 seconds will cause the 

button to light permanently and al ow the FREQUENCY 

knob to continuously control the effect's tempo. 

DATA/MIDI knob al ows adjustment of data such as MIDI 

(32) 

clock speed. 

MIDI ON button sends MIDI start/stop data to an 

(33) 

external sequencer. 

Master Section

BALANCE knob adjusts the left to right balance of the RCA 

(34) 

MAIN OUTPUTS and BALANCED OUTPUTS. 

BOOTH knob controls the level of the RCA BOOTH 

(35) 

OUTPUTS on the back panel. 

MONO button switches the BOOTH signal from stereo 

(36) 

to mono. 

MUTE button mutes the BOOTH output. 

(37) 

MASTER fader/knob controls the level of the RCA MAIN 

(38) 

OUTPUTS and BALANCED OUTPUTS. 

AUX OUT knob adjusts the output of the AUX OUT jacks, 

(39) 

which carry the same signal as the MAIN OUTPUTS. 

MIX 1 knob adjusts the output of the MIX 1 XLR outputs 

(40) 

on the rear panel. 

MIX 2 knob adjusts the output of the MIX 2 ¼" jacks on 

(41) 

the rear panel. 

MASTER VU METER displays the signal level of the master 

(42) 

output and/or cue signal. 

MASTER/CUE button determines whether the MASTER 

(43) 

VU METER displays the signal from the master output or 

cue signal. 

CUE ACTIVE LED lights when a channel’s CUE button 

(44) 

is active. 

POST EQ button selects whether the cue is taken pre (up) 

(45) 

or post-EQ (down). 

STEREO/MONO button al ows the master output signal to 

(46) 

send in stereo or mono mode. 

SPLIT/BLEND(CUE) button al ows the cue signal to 

(47) 

combine the cue and program sources or separate the 

sources into left (cue) and right (main). 

AUX 1/2 switches send the selected AUX RETURN signal 

(48) 

to the cue mix. 

CUE GAIN knob determines the volume and sensitivity of 

(49) 

the cue signal. 

CUE MIX knob/fader al ows a gradual blend between the 

(50) 

cue signal and the program signal. On the NOX404 and 

NOX202, this fades between channel 1 and 2. 

CUE MODE switch determines whether channels 1 and 2, 

(51) 

the FX section, or the Master signal are heard in the cue/

headphone mix. 

Rear Panel

POWER SWITCH turns the power to the unit on and off.

(52) 

LINE/PHONO button optimizes the PHONO jacks for use 

(53) 

with a turntable or CD player.

Front Panel

CUE TONE knob adjusts the tone of the 

(54) 

cue/headphone signal. 

REV/CF REVERSE button switches the assignment of the 

(55) 

signals present at either side of the crossfader. 

MODE button determines whether XFADE CURVE A or B 

(56) 

is active. 

FX LOOP/CONTOUR section (NOX404)

FX LOOP CH1/2 switches send the channel to the FX LOOP 

(57) 

SEND jack. 

FX LOOP MIX fader adjusts how much of the FX LOOP 

(58) 

RETURN signal is included in the main mix. 

CH REV button al ows the channels faders to control 

(59) 

either input 1 or input 2. 

MONO 1/2 STEREO HOUSE switch enables the VU METERS 

(60) 

to either display channels 1 and 2 separately or the 

overall stereo mix. 

REVERSE button changes the function of the CHANNEL 

(61) 

FADER so that the top position is off and the bottom 

position is full volume. 

MODE 1/2 button selects whether the CHANNEL FADER 

(62) 

acts as a volume control (MODE 1) or as a pan control 

(MODE 2). 

CONTOUR fader either adjusts the CHANNEL FADER 

(63) 

volume slope or the pan slope, depending on 

MODE 1/2 selection.  

Filter Section (NOX606)

LFO DEPTH knob adjusts the amount of LFO 

(64) 

(low-frequency oscil ator) modulation applied to 

the filter. 

LFO ON button engages the LFO. 

(65) 

X2 TEMPO button doubles the speed of the LFO. 

(66) 

TAP button al ows the speed of the LFO to be manual y 

(67) 

entered by tapping in rhythm with the music. 

RESONANCE knob determines the sharpness of the 

(68) 

filter, al owing a smooth response at the ‘MILD’ end to a 

resonant feedback boost when turned towards ‘WILD’. 

VCF LINK 2-1 al ows FILTER 2 to be control ed by FILTER 

(69) 

1, al owing both filters to be adjusted simultaneously. 

The HPF, BPF and LPF buttons still function 

independently for each filter. 

VCF TO XFADER button al ows the filter's FREQUENCY

function to be control ed by the crossfader. 

HPF button engages the high-pass filter, al owing only

the frequencies above the FREQUENCY knob setting to 

be heard. 

BPF button engages the band-pass filter, al owing only

the narrow band of frequencies selected by the 

FREQUENCY knob to be heard. 

LPF button engages the low-pass filter, al owing only

the frequencies below the FREQUENCY knob setting to 

be heard. 

FREQUENCY knob selects the frequency used by the

variable cutoff filter. 

FILTER ON button engages the filter.
